I’m not lazy (I do resent you saying that, by the way, it’s a pretty rude thing to say, but I’m sure you didn’t mean it in a rude way), it’s just about knowing where my job starts and ends, and how best to spend my time.
If I was a student I’d probably print them all myself and stay in all weekend and up all night doing it, but I’d probably miss out a drawing or, worse, an entire package of drawings which has some kind of impact on the RCPs.
I’m no longer a student, so I now know that I can have the M&E consultants do it for me and I can rest assured that the drawings they are printing are definitely their most up to date drawings available for each of the services in question. This way, nothing is missed and the coordination exercise can begin with the most current information available. (the most obvious example is that I might not have picked up on the BGM speakers’ mark-up unless I had asked PB to print these drawings instead of me.)
You do things your way, I do things my way, and both will achieve results in the end, but I am confident in my methods in relation to dealing with M&E people and they have to know that you’re telling them what to do and not the other way around. In my experience, if you give them an inch, they’ll take a mile. I want to get this right, so I need to just get on with it my way. In the meantime there are plenty of other things I can work on, so the RCP coordination will be ok if we just keep annoying them until they produce the necessary drawings.
Cheers,
x
